2. Privacy of Your Information
We will use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information transmitted through text messaging. However, text messaging is not necessarily a secure or encrypted method of communication, and we cannot guarantee the security or confidentiality of information transmitted through your cellular carrier, mobile device, messaging application, or other third-party telecommunications provider.
For your protection, please do not send highly sensitive information by text message unless specifically requested or authorized by the firm. This may include passwords, financial account information, Social Security numbers, immigration identification numbers, medical information, or other particularly sensitive personal information.
3. Attorney-Client Confidentiality
Communications with J Britt Thames Attorney at Law may be protected by attorney-client privilege or other applicable confidentiality protections when an attorney-client relationship exists. However, merely sending a text message to the firm does not by itself establish an attorney-client relationship.
If you are not an existing client, please do not assume that information you send by text message is protected by the attorney-client privilege. The firm may also need to conduct a conflict-of-interest check before agreeing to represent you.
4. Use of Telephone Numbers and Mobile Information
J Britt Thames Attorney at Law will use your telephone number for legitimate firm-related communications and will not sell or rent your telephone number or text-message information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Mobile information and consent information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
We may use third-party service providers to facilitate text-message communications on our behalf. Such providers may process your telephone number and message information as necessary to provide the requested communications and are expected to maintain appropriate safeguards.
5. No Sale of Personal Information
J Britt Thames Attorney at Law does not sell your personal information or text-message communications to third parties.
Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to provide legal services, operate our firm, comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, protect the rights or safety of the firm or others, or as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law and professional responsibility rules.
6. Opting Out of Text Messages
You may withdraw your consent to receive text messages from J Britt Thames Attorney at Law at any time by replying STOP to a text message from the firm.
After you send STOP, you should no longer receive text messages from the firm through that messaging service, except for limited communications that may be necessary to process your opt-out or otherwise permitted by law.
You may also contact our office directly to request that text-message communications be discontinued.
Please understand that opting out of text messages does not terminate an attorney-client relationship, representation agreement, or your responsibility to comply with deadlines or other obligations. If you opt out of text messages, the firm may communicate with you through another available method, such as telephone, email, mail, or another agreed-upon method of communication.
7. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply depending on your wireless carrier and mobile plan. Message frequency may vary depending on the nature of your legal matter.
